European Train Enthusiasts
The ETEGL is a regional chapter of the larger organization, European Train Enthusiasts. ETE itself is the premiere North American organization focused on educating the public on the subject of European Railroading. Founded in 1973, ETE serves modellers, railway fans, related organizations, and the community at-large across the United States through public events, working model displays and media presentations. Currently there are sixteen chapters across the United States with over two hundred members.
Since 1997 ETE has been sponsoring regional European train- related shows known as 'Eurowest' and 'Euroeast'. These annual shows feature multiple operating European-themed layouts, swap and sale tables, clinics, lectures and manufacturer displays. While hosted by ETE members from several regional chapters, the shows are open to the public. Each year the shows grow in size and stature, attracting Eurorail fans from across the country.

Like the ETEGL the European Train Enthusiasts national organization publishes a quarterly newsletter called the ETE Express. On each issue's 16 pages you can find articles on many aspects of European Railroading including: Modeling, Collecting, Prototype History and Travel. Additionally the ETE EXPRESS contains news and updates on the activities of many of the other local ETE chapters. Like our own 'Gleis 1' most articles are written by ETE members.
