Almost every town in Germany has a Biergarten, which is simply an outdoor seating area for a local restaurant or bar. This is a way for Germans to enjoy a nice cool beer while enjoying the outdoors. Since it rains a lot in Germany (Munich sees rain or snow 130 days a year), the Germans really like to be outside when the weather is warm and dry! There are also beer festivals in the fall, like the one pictured here. Most people have heard of the Oktoberfest, though there are Oktoberfests all across Germany in September and October.
If you look closely, you'll notice that there is a warehouse located across the tracks, with a beer car on the siding. The hose that's attached to that beer car runs under the tracks, and comes back up to the small beer dispensing hut next to the Biergarten to provide beer to the thirsty patrons. Talk about fresh!
